IBM Plex
is the typeface
for the world.
Commissioned by IBM in 2017 and released as open-source, the IBM Plex family is a global typeface designed to illustrate the relationship between nature and the machine. It is a working typeface — built for interfaces, documentation, and long-form reading.
The family spans four distinct faces: Sans, Serif, Mono, and Condensed — each with a full range of weights, italics, and broad language support.
A neutral, geometric sans-serif.
IBM Plex Sans is the voice of the brand — clean, rational, and legible at every size. It pairs naturally with the serif and mono faces of the family.
A contemporary serif for long reading.
IBM Plex Serif brings warmth and rhythm to extended text. Its humanist structure and open counters make it comfortable on screen and in print.
Monospaced, for code and data.
IBM Plex Mono is a technical face designed for editors, terminals, and tabular information — precise, readable, and quietly expressive.
Seven weights. One voice.
From Thin to Bold, each weight is tuned for optical balance across the family.
The full alphabet.
Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, and more — designed for a global audience.
Four faces, one system.
Each variant is designed to work alone and together, sharing metrics and rhythm.
